Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa is a microcosm of wellbeing commanding views of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples.

Castello di Mezzatorre has a long and fascinating history. The name comes from the ancient unfinished watchtower, "Mezza" meaning half, built between the 16th and 17th centuries by the Aragonese as a lookout post.

The hotel stands on a rocky promontory overlooking the Gulf of Naples, on the north-western tip of Ischia between Forio and Lacco Ameno, surrounded by dense Mediterranean scrubland and just minutes from the bay of San Montano.

The rooms

The hotel's 48 rooms and suites are spread between the tower and the cottages, nestled within a 7-hectare park of Mediterranean scrubland above the sea. All rooms offer luxury comfort and sea views. Categories include: Classic Room, Superior Room, Deluxe Room (with views over the bay of San Montano), Junior Suite, Deluxe Suite, La Bellevue Suite (with one of the most photographed terraces on the island) and La Grand Suite.

La Bellevue Suite has a private panoramic terrace that is among the most spectacular on the island. La Grand Suite is the fullest expression of the Mezzatorre spirit, breathtaking views and every detail bearing the hallmark of the Pellicano Hotels tradition.

Restaurants

The hotel has two dining options. Ristorante La Torre, set inside the ancient watchtower, is the fine dining venue, serving Mediterranean cuisine with an outstanding wine list. Ristorante & Bar La Baia faces the pool and the sea, ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a more relaxed atmosphere. Bar La Torre completes the offer for aperitivos and quiet moments.

Spa and thermal centre

The Spa and Thermal Centre, housed inside the ancient tower, is the jewel in the crown of Mezzatorre. The thermal water rises at 45°C from a private spring near the sea and feeds 3 pools inside the wellness centre. The centre has 4 treatment cabins and 1 inhalation and aerosol cabin, alongside the pools. The beauty level offers 2 massage cabins, 2 aesthetic treatment cabins, a dedicated manicure and pedicure space and an area for osteopathic treatments.

A beautiful honeymoon stay. The food, service and setting was without doubt the best we had in Italy. The atmosphere and attention to detail was second to none. We would return in a heartbeat.

Top shelf service, amazing mud wrap experience, great swimming in the sea/pool, and hot/cold tubs. We came here because we knew it was the same owners as il pelicano. The food is great (amazing breakfast buffet w à la carte on top, pasta at lunch at La baia, and dinner at La torre or baia). The service requires a conversation. It is truly excellent. Salvatore at breakfast and lunch, pascuale (who drive us in the mini car to the local town), the entire golf cart team, Maria who checked us in, the sea/pool team, and Nelo at breakfast were all amazing. The staff all take it to the next level. For instance, we asked for the room service menu be brought to our room. The person brought it and gave it to me and offered to review it w me if I had any questions. I don’t think anyone has offered me that in all my travels. It seems easy but that’s is how all of the interactions went. The person always asked the next question or offered some additional level of service. Swimming in the sea was amazing and the pool was great as well. There are plenty of seats but some ppl do place their stuff on the front row seats in the early am. But there r plenty of seats so it’s def not a must. The only “negative” that ppl should be aware of is that the hotel is built on a cliff. So there are many stairs. They do have golf carts and r very responsive. But even w the carts there r some steps that cant be avoided. The island is great w multiple charming towns. Enjoy!!

A stay at the Mezzatorre feels like stepping into a fairytale. Every corner of the hotel is absolutely stunning and thoughtfully designed. The gardens are spectacular, and the staff are kind, attentive, and no request is ever too much. Every meal was delicious, making the entire experience unforgettable. The beds were unbelievably comfortable, with the softest sheets of any hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It was so hard to leave, this was truly one of the highlights of our trip through Europe.
